The shock you get....

"Which is the cheapest then?" I thought to myself, staring at the rows of bottled water! I am on a health kick and a money saving resolution for lent and am refusing to spend more money than necessary. "40p, that'll do!" Sitting down to drink my water I opened it, took a sip...and got A REAL SHOCK as I discovered it was sparkling not still...."EEEEUUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!" I was simply not prepared for that taste sensation! Being anti-waste and very thirsty however, I drank it much to my disgust. It got me thinking about little shocks we experience in our day to day lives...so...I made a list:
  1. Your alarm goes off in a morning, you ignore it and you dream that you have gotten up, showered and dressed. The dream seems so real that you actually believe that you are ready to leave the house. Your mum or dad comes in and shouts at you, "Get up! Do you KNOW what time it is???" The shock is a big gulp of air and a movement so fast out of bed that it leaves your head spinning.
  2. Slipping in the shower is awful and when you are tired it is a near death situation. You lather up with the soap a little too much and then slide in the shower tray, just a little, but enough to make you clutch your heart and a wet wall and breath deeply to try and get a normal heart rate and then utter under your breath, "Oh god!"
  3. Your morning cup of tea or coffee- a ritual and no matter how long you stare at the kettle, knowing the water in there is boiling you still never fail to take a sip as soon as it has been poured, burning your mouth and cursing!
  4. The shock you get when you are daydreaming at the bus stop and happen to look up the road only to find your bus hurtling towards you! Sticking your arm out frantically to get it to stop, you think, "thank god I looked up when I did!"
  5. The shock you get when you stand on a plug bare footed, this = indescribable pain!
  6. The shock you get when you get caught in a heavy shower with no brolly! (Depending on the mood you are in, this will affect you in different ways, good mood= a shrug, and a 'oh well' approach, knowing that things could be worse and that the rain makes your hair lovely and curly or bad mood= a curse, a tantrum followed by glares shot at everyone with a umbrella who refuses to share!)
  7. The stubbing of your toe! (Proven fact, the pain will go faster if you curse out-loud as opposed to holding it in!)
  8. The minor shock I know I get when I go to take my glasses off and find that they are not there!!!
  9. Another minor shock= when you reach the bottom of a packet or the end of your chocolate bar and you could have sworn there was more to go! F-A-I-L
  10. One that happens to me all the time is tripping up in public! You don't see it coming and then all of a sudden everyone is looking over and you have to simply chuckle to yourself to takeaway any embarrassment, this of course makes you look slightly crazy, for which you are judged for, and which causes your cheeks to go bright red!
If you have experienced any of these, have no fear...I have done them all at least three times each, meaning my life is rather shocking!!!!
