Back to the 50's

Alas with 3 weeks off from work (no more desk and no more paper pushing) I have a great deal of time to be a lady of leisure and fill in my diary with dates and social occasions. There are also a great deal of projects I would love to do around my little room at home. My mum gave me an old fashioned oak writing desk. The kind which pulls down with little nooks and crannies inside, perfect for housing my sketch books and for blogging by the window. It gave me the idea of introducing a much more vintage feel into my room. Today, for example, I threaded 3 vintage tea cups from my collection by their handles onto a piece of thin craft wire and hung them vertically next to my fireplace. They do look darling. I also possess a clothes rail in the corner of my little abode. So today I made a wire hook for all my vintage scarves. They too, look darling.

I also want to be more creative, I have recently found a great love of sewing and made a skirt out of 3 vintage silk scarves. The best thing was that the cost was as little as £8 and the scarf that makes up the back of the skirt is Chanel. 2 huge letter C's make up the logo of Chanel with Chanel Paris written at the bottom- a steal at £4.

On Thursday this week I will be paying a visit to Great British Antiques for a day of thrifting. About 6 huge warehouses filled with antique and vintage treasures, from furniture, to clothes, to typewriters to books and jewellery. I shall be on the hunt for a stool for my room that I can decoupage with either maps or stamps, some jewellery and of course clothes. It is one of those places were you literally do not know what you will find and where you will find yourself. Last time I went I got completely lost but did purchase a beautiful vintage jewellery stand for £5. I shall take Chuck, my camera and get lots of brilliant snapshots for you all.

I have found a new me recently that is falling in love with the vintage style and 50's fashion. From red lips on a Sunday, little court shoes for casual and pearls with t-shirts. I love the confidence that comes with styling outfits right down to my chosen nail colour (which reminds me I need to do that now too).

Lucky for you, 3 weeks off and a working lap top means I shall be with you a lot more and get blog happy, you will be sick of me by the time I'm done.

Love to you all eccentrics!
