RETRO REHAB!!!
This is the name of this beautiful retro clothes store in Preston and so I hear, there is one on Manchester too. The one in Preston is a little vintage gem, tucked away down a skinny side street with bunting, attaching this cloud of joy to an old lamp post! I first heard about this marvellous place when I was stocking up in LUSH in Preston. On purchasing a vintage scarf I got talking with the store assistant and she told me if I wanted more vintage scarves then the place to go would be Retro Rehab. I instantly fell in love with the place just from her description... "It sells all retro and vintage dresses, skirts, blouses and jumpers, there are shoes handbags and jewellery too, but the scarves are the highlight...you never know what you will find and it is resonably priced too!" That was it, I took off down the main street on my retro rehab hunt! My search quickly ended when I saw that I had unfortunately come on the wrong day and it was closed! GOSH DARN IT!!! But as I peeped through the window I could see all the things that I love the most, with old clocks in the window and vintage suitcases and such gorgeous vintage patterns....*sigh*...."I am definately coming back here!"
On my return I could have cried with joy at such a beautiful shop as this! Instead of crying I purchased....and purchased I did! 2 vintage dresses for £20 each...they are officially the highlight of my wardrobe! But it seemed I could not stay away, for 2 weeks later (Saturday 27th April) I was back and found a retro sailing top from the Rories Seaside club! I am in love with it and it is a perfect fit, for as little as £16 I have managed to create a brand new look for myself and reinvent my wardrobe...this look I most definately call sailor chique....
Red wire bow- old Topshop stock- £3.50
Vintage Sailor top- Retro Rehab- £16
Navy blazer- old New Look stock- £10
Navy print skirt- old GAP stock- £3
Navy tights- borrowed from my mum!
Red suede court shoe- old New Look stock- £3
Pearl necklace- North West Air Ambulance Charity Shop- £2
What ties this look together, is the right balance of red white and Navy blue. the key colour being the Navy and the red bow and lippy help balance out the shoes bold colour. With the sailor shirt stripes being horizontal instead of vertical this can make us girls look wider but teamed with the blazer and the pearls, the eye is drawn downwards instead of focusing on the...girth....as they say!
I never would have thought to put this outfit together if it weren't for Retro Rehab and my sailor top purchase! As mentioned in the recent issue of Grazia as a key place to visit in Manchester, Retro Rehab lives up to its name and really is were style is timeless!
