My regular post readers may have noticed a lack of posts recently (the last couple of days) or ones that just seemed distanced. On the 6th of this month, Friday morning I was in a bike accident. Minus any other cars I pulled into works car park at 6.45 in the morning and just as I was about to turn into the gates my bike slipped from underneath me and I flew off, sliding on my front across the car park, not before my right foot hit my bikes body work, causing a dislocated toe. My injuries, luckily, were minimal... a severely bruised and dislocated toe, bruising across my foot and leg, a pulled muscle in my left arm and a sore neck. It was by far the scariest thing that has ever happened to me and the shock of the event took a while to sink in. Yes....I cried till my eyes were sore. I'm sure Daisy would have cried too if she could, suffering a smashed mirror, scuffs and scrapes all down one side, and the loosening of some of her bodywork not to mention a brown mark from where she hit my boot. I spent the first 2 hours of Friday's shift in the office with my foot raised and smothered in a pack of frozen peas. After being extremely stubborn I decided to work. Bad decision as I realised 3 hours into my shift that I couldn't go on in such pain and was told to go to A&E. A trip I wish I hadn't taken. It was scary, but I got my foot X-Rayed to clarify that it wasn't broken. I have been on a severe amount of paracetamol for the last couple of days and am just about recovered. My dad did some work on my bike and he found out that the accident was caused due to my throttle getting stuck, so combined with my front brake and acceleration and wet tarmac...equal a dramatic crash! I haven't been out on Daisy since and tomorrow will be the first time since Friday and I am nervous...but hasve vowed that as soon as I get on the car park I am going to turn the ignition off and walk with her to the gate, just to give me some peace of mind...
