James

Today you leave us,
with a heavy heart.
from your Myerscough Family you sadly part.

There have been times,
where you hated the place.
You slammed your phone down,
pulled that distorted face.

But then there were the times,
that we will all treasure,
the times of laughter,
and happiness to measure.

You always spoke,
of murder and death.
Usually relating to a certain someones breath.

You rebuilt yourself at that corner desk,
But I stand by what I said,
Tramp corner was grotesque.

We mocked you by quoting,
the Dead Poets Society.
We knew this filled you with endless anxiety.

We related you to many a famous face,
The earl of Lemon Grab for example,
What a nut case!

But our Captain you will be through and through,
Such a legend you have become,
for us to say we will miss you.

So pack up your things in that box and leave,
We will remember you always and struggle not to grieve.

Electronic Medication

I leapt... I took a chance... I seized the rights that I deserved as a blogger, a pinner, a graphic artist (sometimes) and as an online shopper. Such rights that I had been denied by the failings of my, once love, my laptop. You are probably thinking...what is she rambling on about now...and I shall tell you with great pride and a sense of glee- like a child at Christmas (how fitting!)
As of tomorrow I will be the proud owner of...
A Tablet!!!
Hence my post title of Electronic medication, for you see this is not a technological paracetamol, even though it will successfully rid me of the pain I have when I am forced to look at a crashed netbook screen! This is a 10inch, sleek, white gadget that I fell in love with at first glance! And she arrives tomorrow!!!! I cannot contain such excitement... And to think I was going to have a boring Saturday!!! Oh such joy I am to encounter when she arrives with the friendly yodel man!
So now little ones, I best be off to bed so that I am up in time to receive her! Then you shall receive another post announcing that I will be posting from a Samsung Galaxy tab s4!!!
Until then, darlings!

Good night,
Sleep tight!

When I am old...

When I am old I will buy a camper van,
retired, I will travel the world, because I can.
I will grow my hair long, past my bum,
and every morning greet the sun.
When I am old I will drink whisky in the day,
too keep me warm, not an alcoholic as some might say.
I will wear patchwork pants and rainbow tops,
I will listen to Folk music, not whats Top of the Pops.
When I am old I will get a mural tattooed on my back,
because there will be nobody to give me the sack.
I will perform the art of belly dance too,
and go on OAP coach trips to the zoo.
When I am old I will eat pop tarts for breakfast,
not caring what I look like, licking the icing off last.
I will be the noisy one rustling sweet wrappers in the library,
and if shushed give them a look that is scary.
When I am old I will get a walking stick that I don't need,
and push to the front of queues with it, by example I won't lead.
I will go out to parties and leave at nine,
on the way home, the takeaway is where I will dine.
When I am old I will tell boring stories that are really long,
and when they fall asleep, scare them by bursting into song.
I will shout at youths to turn the music down and behave,
then turn my music up and walk away/rave.
When I am old I will embarrass my kids,
and collect shiny milk bottle lids.
I will turn my hearing aid off to enjoy the quiet,
but when music starts up, turn into a bad ass Wyatt.
When I am old I will smoke cigars,
and at night, lay in a field and gaze at the stars.
I will have my palm read by a wiser woman than me,
and aim to drink every type of fruit tea.
When I am old I will live life to the full,
but then I may die aged 40, and this poem will be a load of bull!

No roadblocks at Skye

If I could escape, take myself anywhere, do anything and be anyone, I would travel North of the country and across the sea to the beautiful Isle of Skye.

The Isle of Skye is North off the inner Hebrides of Scotland and its mountain scenery coupled with its dramatic rocky slopes and open plains make for the most awe inspiring landscape I have ever seen. And I have never been!

I love, not only the vast expanse of patchwork greens and deep, stormy blues of the surrounding sea but the heritage and the tradition that the Isle represents. The MacLeod Clan and the Donald Clan dominated the Isle until the 18th century when the communities eventually, over time replaced them with sheep farms. The islands culture, although declined remains important to Skye's inhabitants and I find this so valuable even when its population is just over 10,000 people.

Known for its Agriculture, fishing and my favourite Whisky-distilling, I adore the quaint and relaxed way of life Skye represents. It truly is a retreat from the comings and goings of the busy and hectic life that so many of us can get swamped with, even in the English countryside!

Another true love of mine is the Autumn and Winter seasons that we experience in England. I have never liked the hot sticky months of July and June equalling in a truly grotesque and uncomfortable summer.

Skye would benefit me in this due to its climate of gale force winds and wet weather. I love the thought of curling up in my little signature white abode, with ceiling to floor windows spanning the entire side of the house, showing off the explosive view of the Isles vast and rich land, abundant in the local flora of stunning purple heather moor.

Not only would walking and rambling the countryside fill me with joy but being provided with such inspiration which I could paint would be a privilege. The landscape of Skye and its wildlife; the golden eagle, majestic red deer and Atlantic Salmon would provide me with endless sketches and artistic material in which to pursue.
The following poem I have found really, gives the right feel as to the embodiment that is Skye in all its wild, natural beauty.

 Charlie At Versailles

Backwards, backwards let me wander
 To the noble northern land:
Let me feel the breezes blowing
 Fresh along the mountain-side;
Let me see the purple heather,
Let me hear the thundering tide,
 Be it hoarse as Corrievreckan
Spouting when the storm is high
Give me but one hour of Scotland
Let me see it ere I die!
Oh, my heart is sick and heavy
Southern gales are not for me;
Though the glens are white with winter,
Place me there, and set me free;
Give me back my trusty comrades
Give me back my Highland maid
Nowhere beats the heart so kindly
As beneath the tartan plaid!
Flora! when thou wert beside me,
In the wilds of far Kintail
When the cavern gave us shelter
From the blinding sleet and hail
When we lurked within the thicket,
And, beneath the waning moon,
Saw the sentry's bayonet glimmer,
Heard him chant his listless tune
When the howling storm o'ertook us,
Drifting down the island's lee,
And our crazy bark was whirling
Like a nutshell on the sea
When the nights were dark and dreary,
And amidst the fern we lay,
Faint and foodless, sore with travel,
Waiting for the streaks of day;
When thou wert an angel to me,
Watching my exhausted sleep
Never didst thou hear me murmur
Couldst thou see how now I weep!
Bitter tears and sobs of anguish,
Unavailing though they be:
Oh, the brave, the brave and noble
That have died in vain for me!

Christmas shopping... means war!!!

Whenever I go Christmas shopping, I am always reminded of the following scenes in the Christmas episode of Father Ted...
Father Ted and Dougal appear to have wandered into Irelands biggest lingerie section...

" 2 priests hanging around near ladies secret things...it just doesn't look good!!!"

I find this when I wander into an aisle I really do not want to be in! Once you are in, you are in and there is no escape!!! Until you meet another poor soul who is there by mistake aswell...

"4 priests hanging round the frilly section..."

Christmas shopping can bring you out in a cold sweat, the crowds, the promotional signs screaming at you, the bright fluorescent lights glaring at you and the sales assistants that seem insistant on helping you when you don't want to be helped. You really just want to get in, get what you want and get outta there...

"8 priests hanging around the lingerie section, I mean 1 or 2, now that's embarrassing but 8 now that is a national scandal!"

This particular scene always reminds me how I wish to shop at Christmas, army style with a team behind you, snaking through the aisles in mission formation. Attending prepared, armed with deoderant for the nervous moments, comfortable footwear to prevent blisters and a basket.

But you know, this year I chose another way... A beacon of light in the darkness that is sales, cash registers, shop alarms, messy shelves and people running into you with trollies! ONLINE SHOPPING!!!!
So all my presents bought, not a drop of sweat or blood spilt and I even had a lovely jubbly cup of tea whilst I clicked away!

Hope all of your Prezzie shops are going well!

Christmas with the crafty guys and the vintage girls!!!

so last night myself and Fox went to the place all should go to in order to pursue our festive feelings and our merry emotions! We went to Brockholes to the Crafty Vintage Christmas Markets! There was vintage stalls, artisan foodery, craft concoctions, mulled wines, live music, thrifting and merriment, hot food vans and all round wonderfulness in every nook and cranny! I purchased some mulled wine jam for my Grandma, a 80's black and silver, reworked, peplum top for a steal at £15, a stags antler necklace and some Christmas themed lolly pops as treats for the family! It was wonderful! To be able to freely sift through old fabrics, fur coats, velvet gloves and 50's box hats. The music was the soft crooning of an Ella Fitzgerald type, all Jazz and sultry blues, soothing all our worries away! For tea it was buritto and nachos which I practically wiped my face with (messy to eat).
To people watch at such markets as these is the best, there are quirky individuals that have lilac hair, doc marten boots, vintage dresses, adorned with pre-loved jewels! The men with their winter beards and little round glasses poised on the tips of their noses look stunning in their smart velvet jackets and slacks! I love their braces and brogues and bow ties! Men should always dress like this!
I always come away from these events feeling the urge to recreate my old, long forgotten craft business Blue Sky Designs... I would love to become that other side of myself again, my quirky, double floralled self, with a desk in the studio, knitting, creating and enjoying making individual knick knacks once again!
I will get there one day! Blue Sky will set alight out of the ashes of her former self and will craft once more! The time will come!!!

Lots of love and kisses darlings,

Certain foods...Certain ways!

The variety of food and drink available to us today is astounding! And with such a mixed bag of flavours, styles and marvelous cuisine comes different methods and ideas on how we should eat them and our own eating style. Now I am not talking about stuffing our faces... I am talking about the elegance and finesse of technical skill involved in food and drink consumption... And today I share a few of mine with you...
The humble Milky Way Chocolate bar- I press my thumbs firmly along its chocolate coat, cracking the chocolate but being careful not to squash the bar. I then pick off all the shards of chocolate and eat them, leaving the mallow center which I roll like a small white sleeping bag and suck on it until it melts in my mouth.

Jaffa Cakes- similar to the milky way, I break off its dark chocolate lid, peel away the circular orange jelly window, eat the sponge and then eat the orange. This is the correct way and I will accept no other!

Spaghetti Hoops- decorate your fork prongs with these tomato hoops of joy by letting them hang like a vermillion paper chain.

Satsuma- peel the skin off, but you must and this is a must, peel off the white webby veins that enclose the fruity segments or you will be left with a furry tongue.

Pistachio Nuts- separate this clam like nut, eat the emerald jewel enclosed and then lick out the shell or alternatively pick the remaining brown skin of the nut out and eat it because this is the saltiest part and is not to be missed out on.

Ice Cream- Anyone who bites into a scoop of ice cream is mad, greedy and foolish! They only way is to lick.

So where the large majority of foods are eaten (boringly) with a knife, fork or spoon... If and where you can, get creative, stray from the norm and have some fun... Be that the tactic of separating the layers of a chocolate bar, eating with chop sticks or even inhaling your food which I do on many an occasion, do it with the finesse, elegance and skill that food deserves because those are the ultimate ingredients that went into making it!

From Richard.E.Grant

I have of late,
but wherefore I know not,
lost all my mirth.
And indeed it goes so heavily with my disposition,
that this goodly frame the earth seems to me a sterile promontory.
It's a most excellent canopy, the air.
Look you, this brave,
o'er hanging firmament.
This majestical roof fretted with golden fire.
Why, it appeareth nothing to me but a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours.
What a piece of work is a man,
how noble in reason,
how infinite in faculties,
how like an angel in apprehension.
How like a God!
The beauty of the world:
Paragon of animals:
Yet to me,
what is this quintessence of dust?
Man delights not me.
No, nor women neither.
Nor women neither.
